AMHSI features a student banking system operated much like a debit account. It is a simple and effective way for students to access spending money while on campus. Banking sessions take place usually twice a week. AMIIE staff are available at banking sessions to recommend how much a student should take out based on the activities scheduled in that week's program. If a banking session falls during a day when students are on a field trip, we will give students their spending money in student banking envelopes. Whether you choose to go with student banking or not, each student is required to deposit: $40 for "going home money", which is received upon departure from campus, to help take care of unexpected expenses along the way home; and $30 as a deposit to cover any damages, to be returned on the last day if there are no outstanding loss or damage fees. All money should be deposited into AMIIE's account at least two weeks prior to session start. Any late deposits may result in a student not having money available for the first day/s of the program. Any additional deposits made during the length of the program will incur additional deposit administration fees, therefore we highly recommend parents send all money up front. At final banking (the day before the last day of the program in Israel), if a student's balance is more than $100 USD, a check can be written in $USD and sent to the parents. Alternatively students can withdraw the balance themselves. If the balance is under $100 USD, students will receive the value of their balance in NIS. If you would like to deposit money for your child into AMIIE's student account, please forward a check to the AMIIE National Office: 78 Randall Ave, Rockville Centre NY 11570 and notify our Israel office by completing this form and emailing it to our Israel banking staff on campus (c/o Orit Rome Orome@amiie.org ) or call the office at 212-472-9300 to make a deposit with a credit card (additional 3% charge). |
