David Sprung was born and raised in New York. As a teenager he was very active in Betar, a Zionist youth organization and rose to the position of National Chairman of the movement.
David holds a degree in Psychology from the Bar Ilan University and a BS in Education from Long Island University. He was working toward an MA in Education in New York, but put it on hold to make Aliyah in 1966 to do his military service in Israel which included combat during The Six Day War. His military service was in the Nahal - the Fighting Pioneering Youth unit - combining military and pioneering duties. David headed the group that established Tzur Natan a border settlement at the time.
Since leaving the army, David has served in many capacities. He was Dean of Students and teacher in an Israeli school. Twice he represented the State of Israel and the Jewish Agency in Diaspora communities; first in South America (1973 - 1976) then in Australia (1982 - 1986). He worked in the Ministry of Immigration Absorption and also served in the police force.
Since 1987, David has been a teacher at the Alexander Muss High School in Israel. While engaged in all the above activities David found enough time to raise grapes for wine on his farm in Binyamina from 1969 to 1990.
